UNITED STATES CULTURAL ATTACHE PAYS A COURTESY CALL TO DDIS CHAIRMAN

On October 12, 2023, the University of Nairobi, Department of Diplomacy and Internation Studies, Chairman Dr. Patrick Maluki, hosted Mr. Drew Giblin, the US cultural attaché.

Mr. Giblin paid a courtesy call to the Department of Diplomacy and International Studies as part of the Africa Center for the Study of the United States of America, which aims at: linking African and American scholars; convening Africa-US dialogues; providing data and information to US organizations; and hosting induction programs for African diplomats posted to the US.

On the 4th of August 2023, Dr. Patrick Maluki, Chairman, Department of Diplomacy and International Studies (DDIS), University of Nairobi, paid a courtesy call to Hon. Roseline Njogu, Principal Secretary, State Department for Diaspora Affairs, Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs. Hon. Njogu hosted a delegation of students from the US in a Kenya Cultural Diplomacy Initiative (KCDI) through the Global Connections Kenya. 

 

Strategy Workshop for African Centre for the Study of U.S

Today, on 11th January 2023, the Department held a consultative workshop on the Africa Center for the Study of the United States of America to inaugurate programs and projects that will lead to development of a report with view to developing a strategic plan for the campaign to host 2024 inter cities smart cities conference. The program was facilitated by professor Gilbert Khadiagala and Dr. Bob Wekesa, director and deputy director respectively, at the African Center for the Study of the U.S and Dr.

UoN launch pioneer African Center for Study of USA ( ACSUS)

 

Speaking during the event, University of Nairobi Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Kiama said that " The establishment of the African Center for the study of the United States of America  at the University of Nairobi constitute a pivotal stepping-stone towards enabling the University of Nairobi to be the critical fusion center for teaching, research and strategic corporate outreach. It is our hope that the center will serve as a platform to promote understanding of sphere of US's strategic engagement with Kenya, African and the global south"

Visit to Serbian Embassy, Nairobi

This morning a group of students accompanied by the Chair, Department of Diplomacy and International Studies paid a courtesy call to the Serbian ambassador.

The department agreed to explore and enter into collaboration with the University of Serbia in areas that can strengthen the relationship between the university of Nairobi and the university of Serbia and the two nations at large.

Briefing the Speaker of the National Assembly on upcoming eventon African Center for Study of the United States.

On 2nd November, 2022, the Chair of the Department of Diplomacy and International studies and the members of staff held a meeting with the speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Moses Wetangula, to brief him on the upcoming launch of ACSUS that will be on 10 & 11 November 2022.
