DDIS SCHOLAR MR. BONIFACE MWALII PRESENTS IN LUSAKA, ZAMBIA
On the 22nd of November 2023, Mr. Boniface Mwalli M-PRSK an alumnus and current master's student at the Department of Diplomacy and International Studies made a presentation about the 'Borderless Africa Project' during the 2023 African Crossroads gathering which took place in Lusaka, Zambia between the 21st and 22nd November, 2023. Mr. Mwalli's project is a partnership with Mr. Kelvin Jiraji, an agri-tech innovator from Nigeria, and together, they are working to develop a blockchain-powered new media platform that seeks to address Africa's food security challenges and facilitate the dissemination of climate-change information to high school students and farmers across the continent. this conference is hosted and organized by Hivos.
The African Crossroads is a community of African thinkers and doers who meet every year to reflect critically on the continent's cutting-edge developments anchored in African intellectual and technological traditions. During the inaugural edition, which was held in Marrakech, Morrocco in 2018, participants assessed their roles in shaping Africa’s ongoing technological evolution under the theme 'The Fourth Industrial Revolution'. The 2019 edition, themed 'Sense the City' was convened in Mombasa, Kenya with a focus on the sustainability of African cities. In 2021, African Crossroads organized a hybrid fourth edition that assessed Climate Justice in Africa under the theme "EcoExistence". After a break from physical gatherings in 2022, African Crossroads returns in 2023 with the theme for this year's gathering being 'Paths to Renewal.'
The African Crossroads network is comprised of entrepreneurs, researchers, scientists, designers, artists, and philosophers from 30 African countries. The events feature workshops, public discussions, exhibitions, art installations, and showcases highlighting the latest ideas, inventions, and innovations in science, art, and technology.
