TC-Africa Science Communication Workshop
University of Nairobi, Main Campus, UoN Towers, 5th floor, VIP Lounge
About the Workshop:
Research visibility matters for researchers. Publishing in peer-reviewed journals is vital for scientists and is the bedrock of their scientific work. But, it is also important to disseminate insights and research findings beyond academia. This workshop helps you translate research and insights into easy-to-understand language and material, to gain exposure and reach policymakers and local communities. The workshop primarily teaches academics & scientists how to write for a non-scientific audience. The workshop is practical and includes a compulsory pre-workshop assignment. During the workshop, attendees are given advice and feedback from TC Africa Editors on how they can develop their ideas into a successfully published article on The Conversation Africa. The workshop is divided into five parts, namely:
- Part: 1 - Introduction to The Conversation Africa (30min)
- Part 2 - Getting Started - Understanding the pitch, what is a pitch? (30min)
- Part 3 - Breakaway session for the practical exercise & feedback from TC Editors (60min)
- Part 4 - Writing tips (40min)
- Part 5 - Next steps (5min
