1973:   Establishment of the Diplomacy Training Programme (DTP) of the UoN

1990:   Official launch of the Institute of Diplomacy and International Studies. Become the first Anglophone Diplomacy & International studies training institute in the region

1993:   The MA degree in International Studies

2000:   Launch of the PhD degree in International Studies

2002    IDIS enters into MOU with National Defence College to teach and award Masters and Diploma degree

2003:   IDIS hosts two international conferences on “Responding to International Terrorism” & “Africa in a globalizing World”

2004:   Launch of Diploma and Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Studies

2007:   Launch of the MA in International Conflict Management

2009:   Launch of MA in Diplomacy

2010:   Launch of BA in International Studies

2012:   Launch of a study on the Gender Dimension of International Terrorism

2013:   IDIS host international conference on “Reflections on the AU at 50 to 2050” and launched IDIS Alumni Association

2014:   IDIS entered into an MOU with Ministry of Foreign Affairs to train its officials on relevant short courses

2015:   IDIS hosts an International symposium on Counter terrorism titled “In search of a Grand strategy for Africa”

2016:   IDIS launched Center for Counter Terrorism Studies

IDIS enters historic MOU with The Center for Parliamentary Studies.

            IDIS wins a research grant on the issue of Counter Terrorism from the Japanese Government and administered by UNDP.

IDIS curriculum on global health diplomacy approved by the UON senate. This is an IDIS collaboration with the School of Public Health and it caters for the needs of East Central and South African Health Community.
