Vice Chancellor Visits CHSS

Vice Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi yesterday made an official visit to the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. The Vice Chancellor accompanied by deputy Vice Chancellor Academic Affairs, Prof.Henry Mutoro together with his Student Affairs counterpart, Prof.Isaac Mbeche were warmly received by CHSS principal Prof.Enos Njeru.

After signing the visitors’ book, the Vice Chancellor held an open session with the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) academic board where various issues were discussed. While presenting the college’s memorandum, CHSS principal, Prof. Enos Njeru outlined a number of strategies the college had put forward to ensure efficiency in service delivery. The principal said that the college intends to introduce new academic programs as well as restructure existing programs to reflect the changing environment. Prof.Njeru also said that new revenue generating mechanisms will be established including grants and consultancies as well as proactive engagement with industry stakeholders. “We shall launch a capital campaign to raise funds for the school of law towers and work towards refurbishing our infrastructure including classes and offices as well as acquire modern equipment.”

The principal also noted the need for the college to cut costs and enhance the use of ICT in its operations.  “We will involve students in research programmes as well as encourage exchange programmes with leading partner universities as well as organize internships for our students.” The professor said.

 On his part, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi assured the college of his support in ensuring the college achieved its set goals and vision.  The Vice Chancellor called upon everyone to unite and lead the university to unprecedented heights.
