URBAN REFUGEES AND INTERNATIONAL SECURITY CASE STUDY OF NAIROBI - KENYA

This  research  study  delves   into  the  reason  behind  and  the  ways through  which    urban refugees  are  linked  to   International  security issues  and  the  new  emerging  issues  with  the focus  of  study  being  Nairobi  Kenya  due  to the  notable  increase  of  refugees  living  in  the  urban  setting  as the  main  aim of  the  research  study. The  research  study  seeks  to  answer  :  the main  reasons  for  refugees  abandoning the  camps  for the  urban  setting   in whom  and  what  attracts  them for the urban areas .  Also  to  examine  whether  the  Kenyan  government  policies and  legislations are  guided  by  the   principle  of  International  Law  in  relations to refugees  with  the  dire  respect  for Human  Rights. Also to evaluate  the  reasons why urban  refugees  are  linked  to  both  National  and  International  Security problems. The  target  population  being  the NGOs  related   to  matters  of  refugees, Department  of  Refugees  Affairs   Government  officials,  host  communities  and  the  refugees  themselves.

Data was   collected  primarily  from and the  interviews  and   questionnaires  and  analyzed  based  on  primary  statistics  of  the  questionnaires and  interviews.  Also  the  research  study   recommends further study  on  governments  need to  regulate  the  notable  increases  of  urban  refugees in  that  they  have  be  proven  to  be  linked  to  both  national  and international security.
