The IDIS Alumni Association was officially launched on Friday 7th June, 2013 at Nairobi Safari Club. The guest of honor was Ambassador Francis Muthaura. The well attended function was also graced by the presence of top university managers, ambassadors, high commissioners and other senior government and international officials.
The training workshop was held on13th and 14th June 2013 in ED 213, second floor of the Education Building, Main Campus. It was organized by the African Women Studies Centre in collaboration with the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics. One of the key speakers was the Associate Director, Mr. Gerrishon Ikiara.
Our students who are based at the National Defence College (NDC) in Karen, Nairobi had their internal graduation on Thursday May 30, 2013. The Guest of Honour during the colourful ceremony was the Cabinet Secretary for Defence, Raychelle Omamo. The Director, IDIS, the Commandant, National Defence College and other top military commanders were among those who attended the graduation.
The newly admitted students of the Defence Staff College (DSC) came for their orientation at the Institute on Thursday July 18, 2013. They were received by IDIS staff in a ceremony that was held in ED 213 after which they went for a guided tour of the Jomo Kenyatta Memorial Library.
The students are divided into two groups, ie those taking Diploma in Strategic Studies and Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Studies. They take their lectures at their Karen-based college.
Students from Comillas University in Spain paid a courtesy call on the BA II students taking International Studies on Wednesday July 17, 2013. The 35 students joined the BA II students from IDIS in a joint lecture on the African Union that was conducted by Mr. Patrick Maluki, a lecturer in the Institute.
The Institute of Diplomacy and International Studies in collaboration with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and other partners hosted a public forum on the 2014 World Refugee Day in the Multi-Purpose Hall of the 8-4-4 Building, Main Campus.
The Chief Guest during the function was Raouf Mazou, the UNHCR Country Representative
The Institute of Diplomacy and International Studies in collaboration with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) hosted a public forum on the World Refugee Day on Wednesday June 18, 2014 in the Multi-Purpose Hall of the 8-4-4 Building at the Main Campus.
The World Refugee Day is a global event that is marked on June 20 of every year and focuses on issues that affect refugees.
